Korean Grains VS. Overseas Grains (Which one is healthier?)

Ovearseas grains are getting the eye from many Korean people in thesedays, renowed for healthy diets because of various nutritents. However, it is ture that the overseas grains are high cost and imported at a distance. There are several KOREAN grains that are every bit as healthy as overseas grains. Let's compared OVERSEAS grains with KOREAN grains and see what is better point of KOREAN FOOD.


ROUND1 LENTILS VS. BLACK BEAN

  





Lentil has become the talk of the town since one celebrity introduced this bean in her blog.  It looks like camera lens and is also called 'Lens bean'. Lentil is good for losing weight due to rich protein and fiber. However, KOREAN Black Bean also has a great deal of good nutrients.

Especially, black bean has more protein than lentil and lower carbohydrate so that black bean can be major source of protein for Korean people whose diet pattern is occupied mainly by carbohydrate. Furthermore, since black bean has plenty of female hormones and vitamin E, black bean is really good for perimenopausal(climacteric) women.
COOKING METHOD
- boiling rice with black beans.(called black bean rice)
- boiling black beans down in soy sauce.
- after soaking or roasting enough, using diverse dishes.



ROUND2  QUINOA SEED VS. ADLAY

  




Quinoa seed is unfamiliar with Korea but it is famous for health food in Europe, U.S., Japan and other countries. Quinoa seed mainly grows in a valley in the Andean highlands like Peru, and Chile. It is round-shape, smaller than rise, and contains abundant proteins.    

Among Korean grains, there is one which contains abundant proteins, Adlay. It is moist and very good for losing weight and skin. As a number of K(potassium) of adlay help reduce edema(bloating and fluid retention) and discharge waste from the body.

COOKING METHOD
- tea(roasted adlay)

(Adlay has factor that help uterine contractions.)


ROUND3  Chick Pea VS. MUNG BEAN


India is the largest chick pea producing country and Chick Pea, also called 'gram', is cultivated in Australia, Pakistan, and Turkey. Chick pea is full of fiber and calcium, and often used for soup and curry.

In Korea, Mung bean is very useful ingredient of many different dishes. Mung bean has a lot of protein and vitamin B1 so that mung bean quickens the working of the brain. In particular, mung bean is good for growing child. This is because mung bean has plentiful essential amino acids and is easy to digest.

COOKING METHOD
- using with rice porridge
- mung bean pancake(called Bindaetteok in Korea)
- boiling rice with mung bean
Tip : There are a lot of nutrients in zest so it is best to eat whole mung bean.
